The Schedule

Schedule & Location

The 2024 retreat will begin Thursday morning, Sept. 19, and run through Saturday afternoon, Sept. 21.

Classes will kick off at 9 a.m. on Thursday.

Location: 109 East Garland Street, La Veta (corner of South Main Street and East Garland Street)

Uilleann pipes reed-making workshop

One of the exciting additions to this year's retreat is Will Woodson's Uilleann pipes reed-making workshop! Plan to join this master craftsman for an open, relaxed session catering to all experience levels.

If you're already making your own reeds, bring your tools and supplies and craft reeds alongside Will, who will offer advice on techniques and general theory. If you're not (yet) making reeds, come watch and learn! Or if you'd like to get started making, get in touch with Will directly (woodsonw@gmail.com) for advice on tools and supplies to bring.

If there's interest, Will's also glad to demonstrate how to make drone reeds from cane as well as from elderberry and hydrangea twigs. One of the cool things about this is that making drone reeds is applicable to both Irish and Scottish pipes!

Private lessons

Depending on their schedules, Michael Roddy and Will Woodson will be available to hire for private lessons outside of class time. If you are interested in arranging a private lesson, please speak with one of the instructors to arrange a date, time, and payment.
